Areas around fire reopen

This document was published online on Monday, September 08, 2008

Closures around areas burned by the Gunbarrel Fire were reopened Sept. 2.

Areas once closed because of the fire but now available to the public include the Clarks Fork Ranger District's Dead Indian drainage and areas south of the Chief Joseph Highway (WYO 296).

Areas reopened on the Wapiti Ranger District are east of Pat O'Hara Mountain and south to the divide between Rattlesnake Creek and Robber's Roost Creek.

“As we get more moisture and determine that other areas are safe, we will be lifting more of the closure,” said Clint Dawson, District Fire Management officer for the Shoshone Forest.

Maps of closure area are available at the Shoshone Forest offices in Cody or from http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/shoshone/.

For more information, contact the Wapiti Ranger District, 527-6921.

Maps also are posted at trailheads.
