Don Richards of Lovell was elected chairman of the Shoshone Municipal Water Joint Powers Board for 2008.

Bryan Lee of Frannie was elected vice chairman, Craig Sorenson of Deaver was chosen secretary and Dan Groskop of Powell was elected treasurer during Jan. 14 balloting.

Other board members include Dwain Jackson of Byron, Jim Mentock of the Northwest Rural Water District and Steve Miller of Cody.

Shoshone Municipal Pipeline delivered 1 billion gallons of water to the seven participating agencies during 2007 - Cody, Powell, Byron, Lovell, Frannie and Deaver and the Northwest Rural Water District.

Participating water districts include Heart Mountain, O’Donnell, South Fork, Deaver/Frannie, Lovell rural, Sage Creek, North Cody and Cooper Lane.

All the treated water produced has been of higher quality than called for by current Environmental Protection Agency standards for drinking water, pipeline spokesman Craig Barsness said.

Reports of all tests that have been run are available for inspection in the Shoshone Municipal Pipeline offices at 50 Agua Via, off the South Fork Road.

Summaries of test results are available at each of the members’ town halls and at Northwest Rural Water District offices.
